Angahar began on 9 September 2025 with ten students taking part in a five-day Sattriya workshop. They learned an abhinaya piece set to the Borgeet “Maai Hero Gokulachanda Aawe” by Srimanta Madhavdev.
The workshop concluded with a presentation by the students. Sattriya artiste and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awardee Seujpriya Borthakur inaugurated the closing ceremony by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The students then performed before the guests and received their certificates.
Angahar II was organised in two phases, giving beginners and intermediate learners space to develop at their respective levels. Both groups worked on choreography set to a Borgeet and received certificates.
Beginners’ phase: Students explored expression, hastas, hasta viniyoga and hasta karanas, building a foundation for further Sattriya training.
Intermediate phase: Students worked on Bhori Maan and its uses, alongside the development of rasas and bhavas to deepen their understanding of expression in performance.
Angahar II welcomed eminent Sattriya dancer and actor Dr. Lima Das and Dr. Plabon Kakati, President of AMAYAA – An Art Society, as guests. The workshop also aimed to create future performance opportunities for its participants.
